Progressives looking for another Stevens for SCOTUS

“While we cannot replace Justice Stevens’s experience and wisdom, I will seek someone in the coming weeks with similar qualities: an independent mind, a record of excellence and integrity, a fierce dedication to the rule of law and a keen understanding of how the law affects the daily lives of the American people,” Obama said.

It’s heaven, Obama and the left are handed a second nomination for a replacement justice to the Supreme Court. Predictably, Obama outlines his view of a replacement using the words, “an independent mind, a record of excellence and integrity, a fierce dedication to the rule of law and a keen understanding of how the law affects the daily lives of the American people”. Which means, someone who can look beyond the law, beyond our Constitution, thereby placing an emphasis on societal needs instead of strict observance of the Constitution as it is written.

The Supreme Court is the epitome of the bad side of our government, if we could only get jurists who are without party allegiance, ones who do not twist our founding documents into a warped semblance of a law, but who could recognize our Constitution and Bill of Rights as the law of the land and only render their decisions based strictly on those documents instead of any preconceived political ideas or agendas.

Not surprising, the fact that Justice Stevens announced his retirement at this time, it gives Obama and a liberal controlled congress plenty of time to seat his replacement. It avoids any roadblocks if the November elections favor Republicans which could prevent an automatic confirmation after seating a new congress next year.

Democrats are not the only ones playing this game, Republicans do as well, it is politics as usual and as usual, we will get a new justice the far-left consider the best justice to render future decisions favoring their side. Although both sides play politics like kids play ball, it still doesn’t make it any less disgusting, and as usual, the people are forced to get what they think we deserve, and we have no voice in the matter. Well, that’s not totally true, we had a voice in November, 2008 and the majority elected the most liberal member of the senate to become our president. Not only the most liberal member of the senate, but one of the most unqualified of people ever to be nominated for president, let alone get elected. We also elect our congressmen/women and in doing so we do have a say in government through their actions. It just seems many Americans were duped and have elected a president and many members of congress who share a totally different view of America than most of us do.

Our current president and congressional leaders show just what can happen when the people do not look extensively into the background of people we vote for, the results of which can be seen today, a skyrocketing deficit, high unemployment, and a government who actually believes if we keep spending, we may come out of the recession just fine although we will amount debts so high they will be unsustainable.

We can not let a repeat of November 2008 take place, this November we must vote out any incumbent who has gone along with Obama, Reid and Pelosi, and there are a few Republicans who also are in need or an early retirement. Our problems will only escalate if we do not act, those currently in charge are not through with their tax and spend policies, healthcare was only their first victory, still to come include immigration reform and Cap and Trade/Carbon Tax.
